Nepal Travel Hacks and Tips

Before you leave:

  1. Packing: Roll your clothes when packing. Instead of creating a folded pile in your suitcase, rolling allows you to fit more things in. Plus, you can even roll underwear and socks within your clothes for optimal space-saving.

  2. Take a picture of  your passport, identification card, and itinerary and email them to yourself.

  3. Download the necessary travel apps (we’ve recommended some here)

  4. Make sure your playlist is updated including some famous Nepali songs.

  5. Money:  Look up the monetary conversion before you go.

  6. Carry a List of Emergency Contacts and also share it with your travel partner.

  7. Plan your trip. (here)

  8. Read Before You Go.

  9. Go through the health check up. Also share it with your travel partner.

  10. GET ALL THE NECESSARY GEAR FOR YOUR ELECTRONICS.

  11. Research events going on while you’re there

For departure:

  1. Bring your own water bottle.

  2. Make sure you have a pen with you. This can help you to fill up the forms (including immigration forms) to fasten the process.  (also you’ll thank us with this once you reach Tribhuwan International Airport)

When you arrive:

  1. TIA is not the best airport as you’ve experienced before. Luggage claim can take time but don't panic. Just relax and be informed. (trust me, sometimes it can take quite a time but use that time to inform the person who’s there to pick you up)

Exploring Nepal

  1. Use GuideBook or find ‘Enhance your Experience’ tool. It include maps, local phrases you need to know, and challenges to ensure your experience is diverse.

  2. Use local language as much as possible.  It shows your gratitude and reflects your effort which is always nice.

  3. Have a souvenir list prepared, and stick to it.

  4. Research events going on while you’re there

  5. On the last day of your trip to a foreign country, collect all of your loose change and give it to the homeless.
